How to use the calendar

The calendar lists every monetary policy meeting across the nine central banks we cover for the next six months. Where two or more banks meet within seven days of each other, the cluster is flagged as a collision week.

Collision weeks matter because:

• Communications from one bank can prejudge market reaction to the other’s decision, especially when both are within the same regional bloc
• FX pairs whose rate paths are about to be repriced simultaneously see compressed implied vol going in and outsized realized vol coming out
• Macro funds tend to scale risk sharply through these windows, which itself feeds into liquidity conditions

Methodology

Meeting dates are sourced from each central bank’s published schedule, the same data used to build the per-bank pages on this site. The collision detection groups any meetings within seven calendar days. The calendar refreshes whenever new meeting schedules are added to the database.

When schedules have not yet been published for the full six-month horizon, the calendar uses each bank’s published cadence (typically six to seven weeks for major banks) until the official date appears.
